Arable and Bayer partner to accelerate agriculture’s digital transformation & tailor plant genetics to in-field conditions

SAN FRANCISCO. 28 April 2022 – Arable and Bayer announced a partnership to accelerate digital transformation in agriculture through the expanded use of Arable’s field-level sensing and monitoring platform, which collects real-time intelligence on weather, plant and soil conditions in a single solution. Together, Bayer and Arable aim to increase the understanding of how hyper-local weather conditions impact seed performance and to provide growers with top-performing products tailored to their specific location.

“Growers need a new generation of seed solutions that can keep up with a changing climate and fewer resources,” says Mike Graham, head of plant breeding at Bayer’s Crop Science Division. “We are always looking for new ways to combine in-field performance data with our advanced trait technology. Leveraging Arable’s easy to use, accurate technology, we can further optimise our selection process and give growers the best traits for their environments.”

TrendMiner launches the production client for process manufacturing industries

Houston Texas, Hasselt Belgium, and Darmstadt Germany. 28 April 2022 – TrendMiner, a Software AG company, has launched the production client for industrial analytics. TrendMiner NextGen, the 2022.R1 release, provides user experience. It enables an extended pool of operational experts to make data-driven decisions and optimises the performance of their operations to meet business, environmental, and safety ambitions.

Many companies still use a historian (database) trend client or spreadsheets to visualise and analyse time-series data to understand production performance. TrendMiner NextGen brings operational insights to anyone in an organisation, regardless of their level of analytics training. Users now can do anything from basic trend viewing to advanced diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics using machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Nick Van Damme, director of products at TrendMiner, says, “Thousands of users are working with TrendMiner every day. Their experiences, feedback, and requirements have led to this new production client for the process manufacturing industry. Every company around the world tasked with scaled production relies on (time-series) data to understand, manage, and optimise their operations. The challenge is harnessing the value of data without having to recruit and retain large and highly skilled IT and data science teams. TrendMiner NextGen makes insights from production data instantly available to ALL operational experts that need it, at the touch of a button. And that’s a gamechanger for our customers.”

TrendMiner enables production experts in process manufacturing industries to visualise and analyse production performance using sensor-generated, time-series data in combination with contextual event information. The 2022.R1 release distinguishes itself from other trend clients by its easy-to-use method of searching through thousands of sensor readings over years of data. TrendMiner gives instant answers to know what has happened, how often, and why. Searching, filtering, coloring, switching, and comparing trend views offers a quick production performance overview.

Today, engineers are not satisfied with trend viewing only. Operational experts like to know why certain process issues occurred. TrendMiner is a versatile trend client that provides statistical and machine learning capabilities under the hood to find potential root causes for process anomalies quickly and within their full operational context. Contextual data includes information generated by users, TrendMiner monitors, or third-party business applications (batch management systems, quality management systems, or maintenance management systems). For global operating process manufacturing companies, TrendMiner also meets security requirements with its “Secure by Default” and “Secure by Design” architect.

Aqara announces availability of P1 motion sensor

NEW YORK. 27 April 2022 – Aqara, a provider of smart home products, has announced the launch of its new P1 Motion Sensor, an updated model of the Aqara Motion Sensor. The sensor is a PIR motion light and motion sensor that detects movement as well as the state of ambient light in the room, and can be used for security and home automation. Building on the previous generation, the P1 model further extends battery life to a record-breaking 5 years*, thanks to more energy-efficient technologies and improved batteries. The new sensor has been put up for sale on Amazon in the US , Canada , Germany andFrance , as well as through select Aqara retailers in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania**. It is expected to arrive on Amazon UK in the coming weeks.

Based on the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which enables faster response, higher reliability and better compatibility, the P1 motion sensor adds more flexibility for users, including configurable detection timeout and adjustable sensitivity level. No longer fixed at a 60 second timeout like the predecessor, the P1 sensor allows users to set the detection time between 1 and 200 seconds in the Aqara Home app. It is also possible to set the sensitivity level to high, medium or low, which refers to the distance from which the sensor will be activated, so that false alarms can be reduced. By default, which is the medium sensitivity, the sensor supports a field of view (FoV) of 170° for up to 2 meters and 150° for up to 7 metres.

The P1 motion sensor is compatible with smart home ecosystems such as HomeKit, Alexa, IFTTT and more. In addition, the sensor will support Matter the new connectivity standard for IoT devices – via an OTA update to Aqara hubs following the release of Matter. The sensor itself also supports OTA updates, which means that new features and fixes can now be added after the product is released.

The motion sensor has become increasingly popular with smart home users as it is a natural part of most smart home automations. The combination of an Aqara hub, P1 motion sensor, and control devices such as smart wall switches and blind controllers can automate many routine tasks, such as turning on lights, opening blinds, or controlling the TV. Also, with the light sensor built into the P1, the lights can be controlled more precisely. For example, users could schedule hallway lights to turn on only when it’s dark and motion is detected, thereby reducing energy consumption and increasing the life of the lights.

To celebrate the launch, Aqara is now offering a 10% discount on the new P1 motion sensor in its Amazon-branded stores. North American customers will enjoy the offer with the promotional code MOTIONUS in the United States and Canada , while European customers will enjoy the offer with the promotional code EUMOTIONPI in Germany and France . Both codes will be valid until April 29, 2022.
